Fiasco was born on February 16, 1982 in Illinois as one of the nine children to his parents. His father was a member of Black Panther Party and was also an African drummer, karate teacher and owner of many karate schools. Despite being raised in a community filled with gangbangers, prostitutes, drug dealers and killers, his father ensured that he received proper education and that background helped him to achieve a success what he is now today.
He began rapping when he was in eighth grade. By the time he was 18 years old, he began creating his own music in his father’s basement. Two years later, he released his next album “Lasers” in March 2011. It became his first album to debut at number one on the Billboard 200. After that he went to release two albums titled “Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1” and “Tetsuo & Youth” in 2015. His latest album “Drogas Light” was released in February 2017.
Apart from music, Lupe Fiasco has been active in other ventures like fashion. He runs two clothing line Righteous Kung-Fu and Trilly & Truly. He also joined an expedition to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro called Summit on the Summit to raise awareness of the billions of people who lack access to drinking water. He also donated some part of his money to 2010 Haiti Earthquake victims.
