Lil Durk is an American rap/hip-hop artist who came to spotlight from his mixture of trap, drill and R&B music.

He was born on October 19, 1992 in Chicago, Illinois, United States as Durk Banks. He was raised by his mother as his father was incarcerated for life. He has a brother and two sisters. In his childhood, he had to face many financial problems and he has the responsibility to support for his family. Due to these problem and violent neighbourhood, he was influenced to do some illegal activities which have imprisoned him for several times.
Listening to music especially Meek Mill, Rick Ross and watching music on TV provided him the great deal motivation to learn music. Initially, he uploaded his music on social media and as his music was appreciated by people on social media. Later on, when he realized about supporting family, he shifted his hobby to career. From then, he has been dropping his music which have been providing him and his family financial support.

Self taught rapper, Lil Durk initial started his career in music by being linked with Chicago-based rapper, Chief Keef’s Glo Gang label in 2011. With an aim to become an independent famous rapper, he wasn’t in contract with Glo Gang label. After the appreciation and applaud of his initial singles Sneak Dissin’ and I’ma Hitta, he was dedicated towards his musical career. In 2012, he dropped a mixtape Life Ain’t No Joke which grabbed the attention of audiences and follower on his social media. His mixtape’s popularity compelled him to release a song L’s Anthem which turned out to be the life turning song of his life. This single earned him joint venture contract between his own record label, Only the Family and Def Jam Recordings label.
With Coke Boys and his own record label, he released his mixtape Signed to the Streets on October 14, 2013. In this mixtape, he worked with artists like Lil Reese, Young Chop. This mixtape was enlisted as 8th best mixtape of that year by Rolling stone. In 2014, he released his fifth mixtape Signed to the Streets 2. The same year, he had been working for his debut studio album with Def Jam Recordings label.
With the release of his debut studio album Remember My Name under the Def Jam Recordings label in 2015, he caught eye from all around as a rap artist. This album has incorporated the experiences and hardship; he has faced in his childhood. His debut album peaked the Billboard 200 at 14th position and smash hit single Like Me had contributed in popularity of his debut studio album. And, following the success of his debut album that year, he released his 6th mixtape 300 Days, 300 Night which his different from his prior mixtape.
His success of debut album continued his contract with Def Jam Recordings label and released his second album Lil Durk 2X in 2016. From this album, he released the single She Just Wanna featuring Ty Dolla Sign. This album grabbed more attention and became the most successful project till date. Beside his second album, he dropped his 7th mixtape They Forgot. His project and dedication in music earned him the nomination for Rapper of Year by renowned music blog Underground Interviews.
His success in musical career has earned him collaboration with several artists. He has worked with artists like Ty Dolla Sign, 21 Savage, Hypno Carlito, Dej Loaf, YFN Lucci, BJ the Chicago Kid, Moneybagg Yo, Meek Mil, Young Thug and many more. With rise in popularity and well reception of his musical work, he continued to release his project every year. The year 2017 was no exception and released his seventh mixtape Love Songs For The Streets. He also made guest appearances that year. His calibre and dedication has set the higher expectation for his upcoming music projects.
