Christiane Amanpour was born on 12th of January, 1958 in London, England. She is a daughter of Mahmud Amanpour, who is a Muslim from Iran and Patricia Hill (a Christian from England). So she is fluent in both English and Farsi. At the age of 11, she was sent to boarding school in England from Iran to continue her education. But later on, her whole family returned to England due to the Iran Iraq war.

Amanpour graduated her degree in journalism at the University of Rhode Island Harrington school of Communication and Media in United States. She also worked in the news department in Providence, Rhode Island.

Amanpour is married to a former US Assistant Secretary of State, James Rubin. He was also an informal adviser to former US president Barack Obama and former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. They have together one son, Darius John Rubin who was born in 2000.Recently, they are living together permanently in London after returning from the New York in the year 2013.

Christiane Amanpour was the former chief of CNN International Correspondent. She started her career as an assistant on the international assignment desk at CNN in Atlanta in 1983. Amanpour soon began covering foreign affairs. Her award-winning reports have often been filed from the world’s trouble spots. She later became CNN’s chief international correspondent.

She served as a reporter for “60 Minutes” from the late 90s into the mid-2000s, covering the Persian Gulf War, the Bosnian War, and various other conflicts around the world. She is known for her fearless reporting style, often parachuting into conflict areas, and her emotional reports. While in CNN, she was given international’s nightly interview program Amanpour but she left it to serve as the anchor of ‘This Week’ on ABC. She has won numerous awards for her many prestigious works.
